Issey Miyake: Japanese Design Powerhouse

You might recognise the name Issey Miyake and think of his namesake perfume. We are so proud to announce that Issey Miyake, a hallmark of Japanese fashion design, is now available at Glamorizta.
In many respects Issey Miyake was groundbreaking. He was one of the first Japanese designers to show in Paris, and opened the door for Japanese fashion to a global audience. He is the mastermind behind micro pleating, Bao Bao bags and Steve Jobs’ iconic turtleneck.
One of Issey Miyake's most notable contributions to fashion is his exploration of the relationship between clothing and the human body. He has always been fascinated by the way fabrics can be manipulated to enhance movement and comfort.
One of his most iconic creations is the "Pleats Please" collection, introduced in the late 1980s, which showcased Miyake's experimentation with pleating techniques, resulting in garments that were not only visually stunning but also versatile and easy to care for.
Miyake has consistently incorporated elements of Japanese culture and aesthetics into his designs. His designs are celebrated for their artistic flair, functionality, and ability to transcend cultural boundaries.
Issey Miyake's influence extends beyond the realm of fashion, making him a true visionary in the world of design.
Now exclusively available in South Africa at Glamorizta. Contact us for details.
